Black Cockatoo Pocket Forest 1st Birthday

One year ago we planted our first Black Cockatoo Pocket Forest as a demonstration for local residents and others to show how the Black Cockatoo forest could be restored to Boorloo Perth. It’s fair to say that the growth of the forest has well and truly exceeded everyone’s expectations, as has the community interest in the forest. Come along to the Black Cockatoo pocket forest’s 1st birthday to hear about the growth of the forest and the seeds of change sprouting from it.

Program
Hear from people such as Ian Kininmonth TTV chair about how the Black Cockatoo pocket forest came about, Dr Grey Coupland about the Miyawaki pocket forest program, local residents Anne and Joe Courtney and Bette Parker about how the Black Cockatoo pocket forest has inspired them to initiate projects. Mayor Alison Xamon will also speak about the community building aspects.
There will also be a number of kids activities (weather permitting) including leaf tracing and colouring in Black Cockatoo cutouts.
A number of trees will be planted also. A more detailed program will be available to registered people closer to the date.
What to bring:
- Sunsmart clothes or rainjacket/umbrella if raining.
- Coffee cup
Birthday cake, tea and coffee will be provided.
