Black Cockatoo Forest Project at the Hyde Park Festival

Transition Town Vincent is teaming up with Rotary, Dr Grey Coupland of Murdoch University’s Pocket Forest program and Rewild Perth to have a stall at the free Hyde Park Festival on Sunday 1st March and Monday 2nd March. Come and visit us at bay 188 in the Discover Rotary section. Our focus is on:
Restoring the Black Cockatoo Forest to Boorloo Perth, pocket forest by pocket forest.
We are doing this by empowering inner city residents and communities with the capacity to transform private and public spaces into habitat for Black Cockatoos while creating a cooler, healthier and more sustainable living environment.
We will be having displays relating to:
- Making Black Cockatoo pocket forests
- Transforming sand into soil using regenerative practices
- Getting involved with c
ommunity driven Black Cockatoo pocket forest projects in your neighbourhood - The Rewild Perth program
- The Miyawaki pocket forests schools program
There will be opportunities for children big and small to colour in Black Cockatoo cutouts. We’ll also have a range of other kids activities.
