Another Way to Sell…….. Transition Streets 3.18
This is a new and unusual story – The Open Food Network is a not-for-profit organisation that has created a software platform to underpin a new food sales and distribution system that is fair, local, and transparent. They also run events and projects that help community food enterprises thrive.
Their mapping technology makes finding farmers and food outlets in your area easy. The software also lets these farmers set up online shops, and lets smaller producers aggregate into mini-markets.
But, the flexibility of the system is also opening up new, transparent, supply pathways – selling flowers, and timber products; negotiating carbon credits, and sharing waste so it becomes a circular system.
It is worth exploring this new vision.
