Normally, when groups aim to raise something through running extra events, that something is FUNDS. Money – for future operations, new big purchases, or just to keep things running. But we’re not going for something like that – what we’re interested in is FUN raising. We want to provide social opportunities, chances for people within the Transition Darebin community to let their hair down and have fun – with no profit made on the end of Transition Darebin. That’s not how we run.
Our past events have all been in the spirit of fun. Back in 2016 we brought back the Bush Dance – featuring local bush callers Bushwahzee – with drinking, dancing, and a chance to just be. 2017 saw us run a pair of seasonal events across the year – a Winter social gathering in June, and Christmas in the North, appropriately in December. For the past couple of years, we’ve had berry-picking events in the summer months. These events allow people to stock up on berries and have an all-around relaxing day out. 2018 has so far seen us run a guided tour of Herring Island in January. We’re also looking forward to making our Christmas event an annual fixture.
We are now looking forward to the future. If you’d like to help us, feel free to drop us a line by emailing transitiondarebin@gmail.com.
