About Us

Transition village Wallan (TVW) is a community managed charity building a small eco-village of 6 Tiny sleeping Cabins and shared facilities to provide safe, supported, short to medium term accommodation for local people, who are experiencing or at risk of homelessness in the Wallan and greater Mitchell area of Victoria.
Transition Principles, Permaculture Design and Maslow’s Hierarchy of Human Needs are embedded in our basic philosophy and working documents.
There is a strong focus on community in the TVW project. Local residents form the TVW General Committee of Management, fund raise, and volunteer in the project. Community residents are seen as mentors and will act as a bridge for Village residents in their return to general community.
TVW will offer Village residents the opportunity to write their own Personal Plan , to define the goals to be reached in their year’s residency. They will be assisted in this by staff from the nearby Nexus Primary Health Unit.
