About Us

Founded in 2019 through the Hume Environmental Champions program, The Hume Seed Library aims to build our local seed diversity and community resilience by helping residents grow their own food.

We began operating out of the Sunbury Hume Global Learning Centre on Sunday 9th February 2020 and we welcome our community to borrow and donate seeds. We will soon be running, working bees and workshops on seed saving and propagation.

Occasionally we are asked about other seed libraries throughout the state. We’ve started to collate a list which may come in handy – there may already be a seed library near you!

Castlemaine Seed Library – borrow and donate at Castlemaine Library

Macedon Ranges Seed Library – Borrow and donate at Woodend Library, donation boxes at Macedon IGA, Kyneton Community House, Riddells Creek Neighbourhood House

Hepburn Seed Savers – borrow and donate at Daylesford Library

Latrobe City Libraries –

Moonee Valley Seed Library – borrow and donate at Sam Merrifield Library Moonee Ponds

Eastern Regional Libraries –  Belgrave, Boronia, Lilydale, Mooroolbark, Rowville and Yarra Junction Libraries.
