Join us for a textile mending and sewing session

This is initially a one-off session as a part of the Transition Warringal program. There may be further sessions in the future – with expansion of repair items.

Bring along your clothing and other textiles. There’ll be help to learn new skills and complete activities such as…

  • Mending holes in socks, jumpers, trouser knees, etc.
  • Hem trousers, skirts. Reinforcing jeans.
  • Basic alterations including long to short sleeve, trousers to shorts, towels to facewashers, linen tablecloths to napkins/tea towels
  • Basic sewing projects: reusable dishcloths, tote/shopping bags, sandwich wraps (fabric), skirt with elastic waist, cushion covers, basic patchwork quilts.

Machines and thread/buttons/patches provided, you will need to bring your own clothing and textiles. Come and join the mending revolution, learn a few skills and share ideas about how you have saved clothing and other textiles from landfill by repurposing, mending and rescuing!
