Grow Your Own Food
-- THIS EVENT HAS ALREADY OCCURED --
Sunday 1st of September 2024 3:00 pm
There is nothing quite like fresh, home grown fruit and vegetables. For those in the know, growing your own food brings a special kind of joy. Plus food you’ve grown can have many times the flavour and nutritional value of bought food.
With winter almost over and spring just around the corner, now is a good time to prepare your soil and get some herb and vegetable seeds or seedlings in the ground.
Join us at the Britannia Community Food Forest from 3pm on Sunday 1st September for an afternoon of activity including:
- Seed swap: where you bring your seeds to swap with others.
- Sales (by donation) of seedlings and worm juice donated by members.
- Demonstrations:
- Preparing the soil with organics including biochar, compost and worm juice
- Planting seeds and seedlings
- Watering and fertilising
- Conducting pot trials of biochar
What to bring:
- Seeds or/and containers for transporting seeds
- Containers for seedlings e.g. used plastic meat trays
- Cash or card for donating / purchasing seedlings/worm juice
