What do a home loan, a new laptop and a short domestic flight have in common? Well they all emit between 100 and 1000 kilos of carbon dioxide equivalent.
And did you know that the world cup can emit more carbon than a bushfire? And then there are the world’s data centres…
If you’re interested to know more, check your library for the book #howbadarebananas. It’s an interesting and illuminating exercise. And it’s empowering to see how our choices rank alongside the choices of our elected representatives. Seeing the emissions of various behaviours clarifies the impact of our daily decisions, shows us where our efforts are better spent, and highlights the power of systemic and policy change.
