About Us

Gardens for Wildlife is a free program open to all residents, schools and businesses in Hume’s urban and rural areas, who are interested in attracting and supporting native wildlife in their gardens.

By participating in Gardens for Wildlife you are helping to protect your local environment and support nature in Hume. Gardens for Wildlife is a great way to be involved in the community.

When you register to take part in this program an appointment will be arranged for our trained volunteer Garden Guides to your place for a garden visit. They will listen to what you like about your garden and discuss what plants and wildlife you’d like to have visit your garden. You’ll receive tips and advice on ways to create a wildlife-friendly garden in your space.

From a few pots to a little patch of plants, or to the whole yard, every bit of wildlife habitat is important in making connections across the landscape.  We encourage you to get your family and your neighbours, or even your school and work, involved in the program too.
