How to get active on climate change
-- THIS EVENT HAS ALREADY OCCURED --
Tuesday 21st of January 2020 7:00 pm
If you have been feeling angry and afraid about the Australian bushfires you’re not alone. Crises such as the one we are seeing now are distressing and paralysing. If we’re not on the frontlines, it feels that our only power is to donate money and bury our heads in ABC news updates. But the greatest antidote to despair and helplessness is action. So let’s act.
It is more important than ever that we are taking all steps within our power to minimise the impacts of climate change on our communities now and into the future. This means not only changing our own behaviours to lessen our impact on the natural world, but using our power as citizens and community members to advocate for bigger systems change at the scale required to address the climate crisis.
But we also know that working out where to start can be hard – so if you’re interested in learning about some first steps you can, please join us for this one hour webinar run by our experienced Shift facilitators.
During the hour, you will learn about:
> the systemic drivers of the bushfire crisis
> your ‘spheres of power’ as an individual, citizen and community member to take positive action for the planet
> the most effective levers of change to create action on the climate crisis
> where to get started including actions and initiatives you can get involved in, organisations to follow and helpful resources
After the webinar, you will also have the option to join a Slack community channel to share ideas whilst you start getting active!
