Compost making workshop
Wednesday 6th of May 2026 4:30 pm
Do you ever wonder why the bushland of Kings Park and in other areas of Perth seem to survive OK with natural rainfall while getting anything to grow in your garden is difficult and expensive? It has a lot to do with the amount of carbon in the
soil which creates good soil structure, biological activity, nutrient and water holding capacity. In urban areas, most of this carbon has been removed along with the processes which regenerate it, leaving mostly sand. In this one hour workshop you will learn how to make compost, which forms the basis of the humus found in forests.
In this workshop learn from members of Transition Town Vincent’s soil hub:
- how compost works
- the basic ingredients for making good compost
- different methods you can use at home
There will also be compost making equipment for you to purchase at significantly reduced rates.
