TTV has generously received a donation of biochar from Fasera Char for use in our My Healthy Soils project. As part of the project we are offering a free use of biochar for your garden, pot trials or other urban applications. To get some free biochar let us know how you would use biochar by filling in the form below. Check out the attached information sheet for information on the biochar’s properties and on how to conduct a trial in pots, to compare plant growth with and without biochar. Ideas for trials
There are a range of other ways you can use the biochar including:
- Co-composting: Add some to the biomass you are composting. This will speed up the process, reduce emissions and bind the nutrients to the biochar.
- Worm farm: Add some to your worm farm. The worms will process it and inoculate it with nutrients.
- Trenching: Inoculate it with compost and create trenches close to the plant or in rows in the vegetable patch.
- Wells: Create wells with inoculated biochar close to where the plants are to grow.
- Stormwater: Drain stormwater into biochar wells or trenches inoculated with compost.
There may be other ways you would like to use biochar including grey water treatment, stormwater management, treating acid soil, treating acid water and so forth.
