Rewilding Stuart Street Reserve
The aim is to rewild and transform Stuart Street Reserve into a park that:
- heals country through replanting native species;
- increases tree canopy;
- decreases water use;
- enhances biodiversity and wildlife habitat;
- provides food for Black Cockatoos and
- is a tranquil, beautiful place for our children to play, to meet our friends for coffee, to take a quiet break or have a few minutes of being in nature as we pass through or walk our dogs.
The stages of the project

- Understand how everyone uses the park, the current trees and plants, and the opportunities to add more endemic species
- Consult with the community with a survey and park walkthrough
- Consult with experts: in nature play, endemic species and Miyawaki pocket forest planting.
- Work with Sarah Hill, City of Vincent to understand the council plans and how the maintenance will work
- Design the changes to the park
- Apply for Let’s Grow grant <we are up to this stage – waiting for the grant outcome.
