About Us

What we do

permaculture ~ relocalisation ~ upskilling ~ downshifting ~ rewilding

Transition Warringal is part of the global movement working to transform our thinking, lifestyles and local economies.

We are a community action network working to connect, inspire and support individuals and neighbourhoods to rebuild local resilience in response to the major challenges of our time: planetary degradation, economic instability and social inequity.

We are cultivating thriving communities that our one planet can sustain, that focus on health and happiness, and that are even better than what we have today.

It’s not about campaigning but redesigning our world and reconnecting, with ourselves, each other and what we care about.

A major cause of all our challenges is globalisation and the solution to that is relocalisation! Our top three tools for catalysing the transition are permaculture design, storytelling and lots of love for our world.

We present a wide range of events to inspire and support people to:

Permaculture principle icons in a circle

  • live simply and with zero waste;
  • retrofit our homes for energy and water efficiency;
  • grow edible and indigenous gardens;
  • increase both our self-reliance and community connections;
  • participate in the sharing and gift economies;
  • live locally;
  • reduce fossil-fuelled transport; and
  • dream up new projects to achieve this.

All these steps take us towards the heart of Transition, which is to transform the economic system into one which is sustainable, equitable and anchored in well-being.

We believe that we can make the transition to a sustainable world. We hope that you will join us.
