Where do you start?
There are local food swaps – a great way to swap excess food, meet local folks, talk about gardening and sustainability, and just generally get some hints, and buy a little food – like this food swap group in Darebin, Victoria.
Some areas have VERY active community networks – Try your Good Karma Facebook group, or look for something like Local Food Connect (covering the North East Suburbs of Melbourne).

Then there are hundreds of Farmers Markets – regular, managed, gatherings of local fresh food farmers, and specialist food producers, and kitchens – you can find them through Australian Farmer’s Markets Association (Search by Postcode and State) or through your State association.
Local Harvest also has a Searchable Map with Filters and Key Word Search – their listing can be added to, and once in your map area, it lists local entries under the categories of “Eat Out” – “Buy Direct” -“Grow & Share” – “Learn & Participate” – “Meet The Farmer”.
